Abstract

Commercial vehicle mechanics perform physically demanding tasks that may be associated with musculoskeletal complaints. This study aimed to identify the location and intensity of musculoskeletal complaints among three mechanics at Workshop X using the Nordic Body Map (NBM). A descriptive quantitative case-study design was applied. The NBM assessed 28 body regions on a 1–4 scale, supplemented by multiple-response questions on activities perceived to trigger complaints. Six body regions met the dominant-complaint criterion: upper neck, lower neck, left shoulder, right shoulder, back, and lower back. The back showed the most consistent complaint intensity, with all mechanics reporting a score of 3. Of 84 body-region ratings, 45.2% were classified as no pain, 40.5% as mild pain, and 14.3% as pain. These findings provide preliminary screening information for prioritizing objective ergonomic assessment at Workshop X and should not be interpreted as population prevalence or causal evidence.
